Online Security Statement

Keeping your financial information secure is one of our most important responsibilities. We value your trust and handle your information with care. We safeguard information according to established security standards and procedures, and we continually assess new technology for protecting information.

 Internet Banking

We use state-of-the-art Internet technology, supported by the outside companies we work with, to make on-line banking secure and to protect your personal information. One security feature we use is to require customers to logon to Heritage Online with a User Id, Passmark Image and Password. Your account information cannot be accessed without the User Id, Passmark Image and Password. Three invalid login attempts lock out the user and they must call Ohio Heritage Bank to identify themselves and have their User Id reset.

Whenever you log on Heritage Online, we use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology for transferring data. This technology encrypts or scrambles your account information as it moves between your computer and Heritage Online. Heritage Online requires 128 bit encryption. 

On Heritage Online your account number is partially masked. Additionally, Heritage Online has a feature available called "Alias Names" which allows you to rename your accounts from the partially masked account number to a familiar name like "Checking". This helps protect you from someone looking over your shoulder to obtain part of your account number.

 E-Mail Security

Regular, non-encrypted, Internet, email is not secure. In instances where Ohio Heritage Bank’s email addresses are provided, these are provided for information inquiries of a non-sensitive and non-confidential nature. For secure on-line transmission of information to us, you should use the hyperlink available in the Heritage Online Internet Bank "Contact Us" page. This page can only be accessed using your Heritage Online User Id and Password. Inquiries sent through our Heritage Online "Contact Us" page are secure and use Secure Socket Layered (SSL) encryption. Since an Internet e-mail response back to you would not be secure, we will not include confidential account information in an e-mail response. You may also contact us by telephone, U.S. mail, email, or by visiting us at one of our convenient locations. 

 How Can I Protect Myself?

You can help maintain the security of your banking information by not sharing your User Id or Password with anyone, by changing your Password regularly and by utilizing alias names. Additionally, always use our "Exit" feature to log out of Heritage Online. After logging out of Heritage Online, you should clear the disk cache of your browser (this will remove the pages that you viewed so nobody else can view them). Finally, take standard precautions to keep your computer free from viruses and spyware by using virus and spyware detection software.
